Many natural products are used for medicinal purposes. Treatment of a common cold with beet juice has an effective effect and relieves the general condition. Beet juice is not addictive, has an antimicrobial effect, eliminates spasms and has a cleansing effect - mucous discharge liquefies and it is easier to sniff.

The largest amount of nutrients - vitamin C, group B, E, trace elements - iodine, zinc, copper, iron and potassium - is contained in food varieties.

Such roots have a cylindrical shape and bright burgundy flesh. Veins are practically absent, the consistency of the fruit is dense, but not firm, elastic.

Of course, when beet juice is dripped into the nose, nutrients are practically not absorbed by the body - there are too few of them in drops - but if we consider the beneficial effect of the root crop on the body, then we can say that it has anti-inflammatory, regenerating, antimicrobial and antiseptic effects. It is also an effective laxative.

Beetroot juice for a cold - recipes

For a medicine to be effective, it must be properly prepared.

  • The root crop must be well rinsed and peeled from the crust, and it should be cut thinly - it contains the most useful substances;
  • then the pulp is rubbed on a fine grater - or the vegetable is cut into small pieces;
  • juice from grated beets is squeezed out like this: fill a linen napkin or several layers of gauze with mashed potatoes and twist the knot. You can use a juicer. (The second way is undesirable - when touching the metal parts of the device, the healing properties are reduced);
  • the finished product is removed for 2-3 hours in the refrigerator to activate the active properties.

Boiled beet juice is less effective in treating a cold, but if children are sick, the root vegetable is usually boiled - although not until it is fully cooked. Raw beetroot juice is quite caustic - in the boiled state, the likelihood of damage to the delicate mucous membrane decreases.

The method of preparation of the medicine is the same - the vegetable is boiled in a purely washed form, without peeling it.

Not everyone knows that a cure for the common cold can be prepared "in reserve". The produced raw materials are pasteurized - a jar covered with a metal lid is dipped in boiling water and kept on fire for 3-4 minutes. Then the cans are rolled up. Beetroot juice retains its beneficial properties for 12 months.

Treatment of rhinitis with beetroot juice

There are a lot of recipes for treating a cold with the help of natural raw materials.

The easiest way is to use freshly squeezed medicine in the nose, 2-3 drops 3 times a day. This method can only be used by adults who are not particularly sensitive, or when the purpose of the procedure is to muffle. Fresh juice irritates and causes repeated sneezing - the nasal passages are cleared of mucus

For a prolonged anti-inflammatory effect of drops for adults, the liquid should be diluted with boiled water in a ratio of 1/2, for children, the composition is even less saturated - 1/3. If the drops are diluted, then it is better to rinse the nose before instillation and remove dried crusts.

It is not recommended to introduce this version of the remedy for the common cold into children's noses - fresh beet juice is mixed with honey and injected into the nose with the help of gauze turunda. The duration of the procedure is 10-15 minutes

Drops are made from the following components:

  • beet and carrot juice - the ingredients are taken in equal parts;
  • vegetable oil - as much as each ingredient separately;
  • garlic or onion juice - this ingredients should be half as much as vegetable oil.

Doses and frequency of treatment - 2 drops 3 times a day, children should add a little water to the composition - so much that a burning sensation is not felt.

You can offer drops of the following composition for the treatment of a cold:

  • mix 1 part of honey and 3 - beet-carrot cocktail;
  • in a vegetable medicinal cocktail - 2 parts - add 1 part of propolis alcohol tincture;
  • medicinal vegetable mixture - 2 parts - 1 part sea buckthorn oil.

The remedy made according to the last recipe is rarely used in the form of drops - it is much more convenient to soak gauze turundas and leave in the nose for 10-15 minutes.

To reduce irritation from caustic beetroot juice, but not to reduce the effectiveness of the action, the nose should be lubricated from the inside with vaseline or sea buckthorn oil before using the undiluted product. This preliminary preparation does not affect the effectiveness of the procedure, and protects the mucous membrane from injuries. In addition, sea buckthorn oil itself has medicinal qualities - it produces an anti-inflammatory effect, relieves irritation, has an antiseptic and antimicrobial effect.

Indications and contraindications for the treatment of rhinitis with beets

Since beet juice from a runny nose is dripped into the nose - that is, the effect of a natural remedy is local - there are relatively few contraindications to its use:

  • an allergic reaction of any type to the main component of the drug;
  • hypersensitivity of the nasal mucosa.

Since the main action of the common cold is a local irritant, which helps to cleanse the nasal cavity and restore breathing, then this method should not be treated with a tendency to nosebleeds and increased fragility of blood vessels.

To prevent increased sensitivity from interfering with the use of a natural medicinal composition, it should be diluted a little more than in the recommendations for preparing the recipe.

It should be borne in mind that the allergic component may not be beets, but additional ingredients - especially honey often causes unwanted reactions.

In this case, you should choose another recipe for the medicinal composition or exclude honey from it.

It is generally not recommended to give honey to children under 3 years old - in any form

What effect does a natural remedy have on a cold?

After its application, the amount of discharge increases, there may be a desire for others, even lacrimation may occur. All this is natural - the body has activated and is trying to cleanse itself of mucus that interferes with breathing. The discomfort usually goes away within a few minutes.

If this does not happen, and the condition worsens - there is pain in the forehead and weakness, then this method of treatment should be abandoned.
