A huge number of women dream of slender and beautiful legs, but not all of them are given by nature. Not wanting to waste time on diets and going to the gym, many decide to undergo liposuction of the legs. There are several types of this procedure that are offered in clinics.
Types of leg liposuction
Liposuction is a surgical operation aimed at changing the nature of complications in a specific area of the body, in this case, the legs. It has a number of important advantages, for example, it helps to cope with fat deposits in places where it is impossible to remove them with the help of physical activity. The procedure is divided into several types, both operational and without an operational method:
- Stationary. Liposuction of the inner thighs or other area on the legs can be performed dry or wet. Small incisions are made on the skin in the problem area, into which a cannula is inserted. After the surgeon begins to move it in different directions, which leads to the destruction of adipose tissue. At the same time, it is sucked off due to negative pressure. The wet method implies the additional use of infiltration of the problem area with a saline solution with an anesthetic, which helps to thin the fat, which facilitates its discharge;
- Vacuum. This is an aggressive method used to remove large amounts of body fat. Its essence lies in the fact that a saline solution mixed with adrenaline is injected under the skin, which subsequently liquefies fat. Tubes are inserted into the incisions made through which it is pumped out;
- Ultrasonic. Under the influence of ultrasound, fatty deposits are converted into an emulsion. After that, they are sucked out, as in the vacuum version. Sometimes pumping is not carried out if there was little fat and then it is removed on its own through the intestines and kidneys;
- Laser. This method, to make your hips, breeches and other parts of your legs slim, is the most painless and without a trace. A micro-puncture is made in the problem area, through which a thin fiber is introduced. Thanks to the laser procedure, not only the fatty tissue is liquefied, but the blood vessels are sealed, and collagen synthesis is activated, which makes the skin elastic after the procedure. Large amounts of fat are removed by aspiration, and small ones - naturally;
- Cold. This is a new procedure in cosmetic surgery, which lasts about 3 hours. Fat deposits are exposed to ultra-low temperatures, and fat cells are subsequently removed from the body on their own for 3-4 months;
- Water jet. Another novelty, which is considered the least traumatic for the body. Its plus is the minimal risk of complications. Such liposuction of thighs, lower legs, calves, breeches and other parts of the legs implies the impact on the fat deposits by the pressure of water;
- Tumescent. This option is similar to the vacuum procedure, but in this case, a saline solution with an antiseptic and vasoconstrictor drugs is injected under the skin. Helps with large fat accumulations;
- Radio frequency. Under the influence of waves of a certain frequency, fatty deposits are destroyed, which are subsequently excreted by the body on its own.
Indications for liposuction
There are a number of factors for which liposuction may be recommended. First of all, these are violations of the contours of the figure, fat folds on the inner or back of the thigh. People with a tubercle on the inner side of the knee, with breeches and massive overhanging folds are allowed before the operation. People who are not satisfied with the proportions of their own lower extremities turn to plastic surgeons. Liposuction can be part of a complex with other types of operations, for example, with rejuvenating procedures and tightening.
The doctor cannot remove more than 60% of the fat, since the skin should not directly touch the muscles and at least a minimal layer should remain.
Preparing for the procedure
First of all, it is necessary to undergo a complete clinical examination, and if there are no contraindications and the patient's well-being is normal, then three weeks are given for preparation:
- It is necessary to stop taking anticoagulants in order to restore blood clotting;
- A couple of weeks before the appointed date, you should start taking vitamins to strengthen the immune system and iron supplements;
- It is recommended to minimize the amount of salt consumed to 1.5 g per day;
- Three days before the procedure, physical activity and hygiene procedures using deodorant agents are excluded;
- It is important to stop eating and drinking before eight hours.
How is leg liposuction performed?
Depending on which area on the legs will be treated and individual indicators, local or general anesthesia can be prescribed. The duration of the procedure is approximately three hours. Consider, as an example, how the tumescent procedure is performed, since it is the most popular:
- With the help of a special device, the problem area is infiltrated with a special solution. It leads to constriction of blood vessels and swelling of fat cells. In order for the solution to be deeply and evenly distributed, it is injected under pressure;
- After that, small incisions are made in certain places through which thin cannulas are inserted. The fat that will be destroyed is pumped out using a vacuum apparatus;
- Subsequently, sutures are applied and an elastic bandage or bandage is put on. The patient must also wear a compression garment.
Contraindications
There is a certain list of reasons for which liposuction of the thighs and other areas of the lower extremities is prohibited. First of all, this applies to severe chronic diseases and the period of exacerbation of infectious diseases. Surgical intervention during pregnancy and lactation is prohibited. Contraindications include diseases of the heart and blood vessels, as well as varicose veins, diabetes mellitus and poor blood clotting.
Possible complications and consequences
Some discomfort after surgery is considered normal, such as tight skin and mild pain. After some time, such manifestations will pass. It is possible that hematomas, edema, skin irregularities, bulges, depressions and bruises may occur.
Rare unpleasant consequences of surgery: infection, lidocaine poisoning, thrombosis of large veins and temperature surges. If the doctor made punctures under the knees, then nerve fibers may be damaged, so it is important to carefully select a specialist.
Recommendations for rehabilitation after liposuction
After the procedures, it is important to adhere to all the doctor's recommendations. It is necessary to attend all consultations appointed by a specialist. There is a certain list of rules that are important to follow so that there are no problems:
- You should stop smoking, as nicotine impairs the process of rapid tissue healing;
- Avoid heavy physical exertion after the procedure;
- Refuse to visit baths, saunas, solarium and swimming pool;
- During rehabilitation, you need to stop drinking alcohol, strong coffee and tea;
- After the surgical intervention, cooling and warming compresses on the legs should not be applied;
- It is important to protect yourself from acute respiratory infections and colds;
- Hot weather conditions that provoke increased sweating are contraindicated. Hypothermia is also prohibited;
- It is recommended to adhere to a correct balanced diet;
- It is advisable to walk more in the fresh air and observe a drinking regimen;
- Compression underwear must be worn throughout the month.
It is important to say that the results obtained from liposuction of the legs do not appear immediately, but after the edema subsides. The full effect can be assessed after a few weeks, when all traces have passed and the skin becomes its usual shade.
We have presented to your attention the main types of such a procedure as liposuction of the legs. If it was decided to choose this option for losing weight, then you need to contact a good specialist to determine how the laser, water or other options will be performed.
