Stomach pain can be encountered after a stressful condition, due to physical exertion, in violation of the diet or after eating poor-quality food.
To get rid of one-time discomfort, it is enough to take an anesthetic once and for 1-2 days to exclude from the diet foods that irritate the mucous membrane of the digestive organs.
In the case when the stomach hurts constantly, the pain intensifies 40-60 minutes after eating, bothers at night or occurs in the morning, before they had time to eat, and even symptoms appeared: diarrhea, flatulence, dizziness, nausea, heartburn and weakness, one can assume diseases of the digestive organs.
The above described signs are characteristic of gastritis and peptic ulcer, which appeared against the background of increased acidity of gastric contents. It is impossible to get rid of pain without normalizing the condition of the digestive tract. In these cases, a medicine is often prescribed - "Omez". What does this remedy help with?
"Omez" is referred to as antiulcer drugs, but there are many more indications for its use - as indicated in the instructions. The medicine is made in the form of capsules and powder, which is dissolved in saline immediately before intravenous administration.
The most convenient form for home use of "Omeza" is capsules. In order not to be mistaken - especially if medicines are stored in the home medicine cabinet randomly, you need to keep in mind - the capsule body is light beige, the lid is pink, each capsule is labeled “OMEZ”, and on both parts. This is what the original drug looks like.
There are no Omeza tablets. If this drug is offered in tablets, you should immediately refuse - even if a beautifully printed instruction is attached to the package - this is a fake. But drugs of similar action can be sold in the form of tablets - for example, "Nolpaza". The tablets of this remedy can be divided into 2 parts according to the risk, which is in the middle.
The active ingredient is omeprazole.
Excipients:
- mannitol;
- lactose;
- sodium salts - lauryl sulfate, hydrogen phosphate;
- sucrose;
- hypromellose.
The capsule shell allows the active active ingredient to be released directly in the stomach - it is made from propyl parahydroxybenzoate, talc, titanium dioxide, sodium hydroxide, lauryl sulfate, methacrylic acid, macrogol and gelatin.
Pharmacinetic action of "Omez"
The antiulcer drug belongs to the inhibitors of the enzymes N + -K + -ATPase and belongs to the drugs, which are called in medicine "proton pump". The action of this agent - blocks the release of hydrochloric acid in the parietal cells of the stomach.
After the active substance enters the stomach after an hour, it is absorbed into the bloodstream, the maximum effect is achieved after 2 hours. The action lasts for a day. As soon as the use of the drug ends, the secretory activity of the stomach is restored within 3-4 hours.
Omeprazole is metabolized in the liver, rapidly absorbed and excreted from the body by the intestines and kidneys.
"Omez" - indications for use
Indications for the use of "Omez" are given in the instructions:
- peptic ulcer - an ulcer occurs in the stomach and in the duodenum, more often in the bulbs, regardless of the etiology of the disease;
- hyperacid gastritis;
- erosive lesions of the digestive tract;
- reflux esophagitis;
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome - this is the name of the neoplasm of the islet apparatus of the pancreas, in which the secretion of gastrin increases;
- diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the cause of which is the intake of non-steroidal drugs;
- chronic pancreatitis;
- prevention of recurrence of peptic ulcer disease;
- increased acidity caused by hormonal changes, endocrine disorders, infectious diseases, that is, conditions that do not belong to gastrointestinal diseases.
The instructions for the drug also indicate contraindications for its use:
- individual intolerance;
- pituitary tumors;
- intestinal obstruction;
- perforation;
- internal bleeding in the acute stage;
- child's age up to 12 years;
- pregnancy;
- renal and hepatic impairment.
When using the drug, the following side effects may occur.
- The most common side effects occur from the gastrointestinal tract - flatulence, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, intestinal cramps;
- less often - a violation of the blood formula: leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia;
- further - allergic reactions, bronchospasm, anaphylactic shock, angioedema, arthralgia, urticaria, pruritus;
- hallucinations, headaches, dizziness, sleep disturbance;
- depression, myalgia;
- muscle weakness;
- taste disturbance, fever, interstitial nephritis;
- paresthesia;
- visual impairment.
Side effects are reversible. As soon as the medication is stopped, the condition returns to normal.
If the doctor considered it possible to prescribe "Omez" in case of impaired hepatic function, the patient should analyze his own condition - the instructions indicate that obstructive jaundice or encephalopathy may become side effects in this case.
Instructions for the use of "Omez"
The instructions give recommendations for taking "Omez", but the doctor can adjust the therapeutic regimen based on the clinical picture.
When administered intravenously, the drug - in powder form - is dissolved in saline or 5% glucose solution, then very slowly injected into a vein.
The capsules should be swallowed whole and washed down with plenty of clean water. How to take the drug correctly depends on the disease for which it is prescribed.
If the indications are peptic ulcer, reflux esophagitis or gastropathy caused by the use of NSAIDs, it is enough to drink 1 capsule per day - in the morning or in the evening, as it is more convenient for the patient. If the patient's weight is over 100 kg, or the manifestations of reflux esophagitis or peptic ulcer disease are acute, then it is recommended to take 2 capsules per day - at the same time, or one - in the morning, the second - in the evening. Regardless of the instructions in the instructions, the doctor may decide to adjust the dose or course of treatment.
The course of treatment depends on the severity of the condition and can vary from 2 to 8 weeks. Peptic ulcer prophylaxis - take 1 capsule per day for 2 weeks.
With Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the dose is increased - in this case, the instruction recommends taking 3 capsules per day (sometimes the dose is increased to 6 capsules). In this case, the medicine is taken in equal portions, 3 times a day, after an equal amount of time, preferably after an hour after meals.
In Mendelssohn's syndrome "Omez" is used in the form of an intramuscular injection - the first dose is administered before surgery, if the operation lasts longer than 2 hours, the drug is re-injected.
In some cases, the intravenous injection is repeated after surgery - at the discretion of the attending physician.
In case of hepatic and renal failure, regardless of the type of disease for which Omez is prescribed, more than 1 dose of the drug should not be taken per day.
Omez is also used in a therapeutic regimen to arrest the activity of the Helicobacter pylori bacteria. In this case, the drug is taken together with antibiotics and a drug containing the active substance - metronidazole. Triple therapy - antibiotics, antimicrobial agent and antiulcer drug - helps to get rid of pathogenic bacteria in 2 weeks.
Features of the use of "Omez"
If you take the drug at the same time as "Fosfalugel", it quickly helps to get rid of the underlying disease.
If the patient simultaneously needs to take sedatives that contain sibazone, then their dosage must be reduced.
If side effects occur, omeprazole is canceled.
If "Omez" does not help in the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, then it is canceled, and analogs can be prescribed: "Gastrozol", "Pantoprazole", "Nolpaza", "Lanzaprazole". The selection of an analogue must be entrusted to the attending physician.
