Hydrogen peroxide is a well-known antiseptic used to treat mainly purulent wounds and infiltrates. Recently, this product has been used against acne - it is believed that it is able to kill the pathogenic microflora that provokes the appearance of pustules and acne.
This kind of treatment is not independent, that is, it only indirectly helps in a full-fledged fight against the problem.
Treatment of acne with hydrogen peroxide is carried out in combination with traditional procedures and taking medications that specifically target the cause of the underlying problem. Many women, having tried masks with hydrogen peroxide, find them very effective as an emergency relief for rashes.
How does peroxide work against acne?
It is known that the appearance of acne on the face and body always has an internal cause. Among the etiological causes of acne, an incorrect lifestyle, irrational diet, bad habits, hormonal imbalance and diseases of the internal organs, especially the digestive system, should be noted. To fight acne effectively, it is necessary to eliminate the root cause of acne. However, most people choose tactics "by contradiction", and fights directly with the external manifestations of disorders in the body.
The mechanism of acne development is extremely simple. Large sebaceous plugs mature in the pores, which transform into purulent rods. By creating an ideal environment for the nutrition and life of bacteria, they provoke the transformation of normal skin flora into a disease-causing one.
Acne is traditionally treated with antibiotics, simultaneously normalizing the state of the body and neutralizing the internal cause of excess sebum secretion in the pores of the skin.
Treatment can also be carried out with hydrogen peroxide, known for its powerful antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It is also suitable for adjuvant treatment of a wen (lipoma), provided that it is not too large. It is unlikely that it will be possible to completely "etch out" the pathogenic flora with its help, however, the drug is unambiguously capable of partially neutralizing and stopping its growth.
Peroxide based masks will give you the following results:
- Pore cleansing;
- Reducing the number of acne;
- Elimination of blackheads;
- General refreshing of the skin of the face;
- Prevention of acne scar formation;
- Alignment of the micro-texture of the skin;
- Strengthening the epidermis;
- Stimulation of regenerative processes in cells;
- Activation of local blood circulation;
- Improving complexion;
- Improving skin firmness.
Treatment of a wen (lipoma) usually comes down to surgical procedures, but especially persistent patients sometimes get rid of the trouble on their own by applying compresses with 3% hydrogen peroxide to the affected skin area. Gradually, the concentration of the active substance in the compress increases, and after a couple of months, a painless release of the contents of the swelling can be achieved.
Ways to Use Hydrogen Peroxide to Treat Acne
It is imperative to wipe your face with hydrogen peroxide during mechanical cleaning. If you are using a Uno spoon to get rid of comedones at home, it is important to treat the injured skin with this remedy.
In addition, peroxide can be used to make a homemade face tonic that is used to prevent acne.
How to cook:
- Take a regular facial toner that you are used to using (you can make your own hydrolat, and this will be even more effective);
- Add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to it (calculation - 5 drops per 50 ml of liquid).
You need to treat your face with such a remedy 2-3 times a week. Particularly carefully should be wiped off the localization of acne. It is believed that the tonic enriched with the drug is great for treating fine red rash, reminiscent of allergies. He is also able to provide prevention of more "serious" acne - pustules, wen, acne. When using it, small lipomas will open on their own in a month.
Those who do not want to clean their pores on their own, and are already struggling with the consequences of their pollution, are offered effective masks for acne with peroxide.
Acne mask recipes
Clay and hydrogen peroxide mask
- 5 g of any clay (for the treatment of acne, you can use white, blue or green) mix with 4 g of borax, 4 g of magnesium carbonate and 3 g of ordinary talc;
- Rub the resulting powder mixture thoroughly;
- Dilute it with hydrogen peroxide until a homogeneous pasty mass is obtained;
- Apply to face and soak for 20 minutes;
- Wash off with warm water without using soap.
The combination of hydrogen peroxide and clay is truly unique: one component deeply cleanses, the other neutralizes bacteria. Borax and magnesia stimulate local immunity and activate the regeneration process. Treatment with such a mask will reduce the number of acne, even on problem skin.
Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda mask
This acne mask prepares especially quickly.
- You need to take half a teaspoon of baking soda and dilute it with hydrogen peroxide until you get a paste;
- Apply the mixture pointwise to acne sites (never on healthy skin);
- Soak for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water (you can treat your face with tonic or micellar water).
Soda in combination with hydrogen peroxide will give a powerful antiseptic and cleansing effect, but be prepared that this combination can greatly dry out the epidermis.
Peroxide and brewer's yeast mask
- In hydrogen peroxide, add 1-1, 5 tablespoons of dry brewer's yeast;
- You should have a creamy mixture;
- Apply the mass in a thick layer on the face and let stand for at least 20 minutes;
- Wash off the composition with warm water without using soap.
The recipe for the remedy can be varied at your discretion. It is also allowed to add other components - for example, honey, biostimulated aloe juice, crushed activated carbon. In short, any product that is famous for its healing properties against acne will do.
Application of masks with peroxide: rules and recommendations
In order for acne treatment to be as effective as possible, you should adhere to a few simple rules:
- Prepare a fresh mixture every time you decide to make a mask;
- Do not overexpose the composition on the face, as this way you can provoke dehydration, flaking and skin irritation;
- The procedures should be carried out 1-3 times a week, depending on the degree of skin lesions;
- Do not forget to consult with a dermatologist about the appropriateness of using masks in your case;
- For the preparation of masks, use only a 3% peroxide solution;
- Use peroxide masks in combination with other topical acne treatments for faster, longer-lasting results;
- For the duration of treatment, completely abandon decorative cosmetics (powder, foundation, BB and CC cream);
- To consolidate the effect of the masks, wipe your face with peroxide after you wash off the composition from the skin.
Do not abuse the listed means - you cannot resort to them every day. This will not speed up the onset of the effect, and will aggravate the skin condition.
Contraindications
It is undesirable to use masks with peroxide in case of too dry, irritated, hypersensitive skin of the face.
The formulations should not be used in the presence of skin allergies. Watch out for the absence of intolerance reactions to any ingredient in the masks.
By using hydrogen peroxide against acne correctly, you will achieve results in no time.
