Who has not had a situation when you need to quickly get ready for a party or a holiday, and, as luck would have it, turned off the water? Or even worse, when you don't have time to wash your hair at work, and you need to run out for your friend's birthday in half an hour?
Fortunately, in the modern world there is a way out of this difficult situation - dry shampoo. Moreover, this is not only a way to quickly wash your hair, but also an excellent tool for matting curls and styling them. But this is not all the advantages of this tool - it thickens the structure of thin curls, makes them obedient and easy to style.
What is dry shampoo?
It is worth noting that such a remedy is far from new.
It is worth remembering at least the traditional washing methods using ground grain or potato flour. Actually, modern dry-type shampoos have the same principle, only now they are produced in the form of sprays and pressed soap bars. These products contain a large amount of vitamins and organic substances. So, one of the components are absorbents - microelements that have a rapidly absorbing property. When in contact with other trace elements in the body, such as dust or sebum, the absorbents absorb them. Thus, the skin and hair are cleansed.
Shampoos of this type are two-component:
- the first component is cereals (rice, corn, wheat or oats);
- the second component is aromatic oils or other fragrances.
The first component cleans and the second deodorizes. Since all the components of this product are organic, they do not affect the condition of the skin, as is usually the case with liquid shampoos. Removing fat deposits from the sebaceous glands and household dust from curls, such products make hair clean and soft with absolutely no water.
After cleansing the head, the microparticles must be combed out with a thick comb or comb. Of course, you can constantly use such a shampoo, but you should not expect the same effect as from a regular cosmetic product. However, dry components based on cereals make the structure of the strands soft, even out the protein structures and heal the roots. Therefore, if the head is often dirty and the owners of lush hair have to wash it every day, then dry products will serve as an excellent alternative to both healing the strands and saving time.
But it is worth remembering that water shampooing is still necessary, since it will still not work to completely eliminate household pollution from the pores without the participation of warm water. Full deep cleansing of the pores requires steaming, which can only be achieved with warm water. Otherwise, dandruff may appear.
How to use dry shampoo?
To keep the strands clean and soft, you need to apply the dry shampoo correctly.
- Shake the can with the product, as you shake the varnish or foam;
- Spray on curls at a distance of 30 cm, in the same way as dry curls with a hairdryer;
- It is important to apply the required amount of the product. From the fact that you apply a lot of shampoo, the strands will not be washed out better, on the contrary - it will be much more difficult for you to comb out the remnants with a comb;
- Using massaging movements, distribute the product along the entire length of the hair. The procedure is the same as for a regular shampoo;
- Leave the head soaped up for a few minutes. During this time, trace elements will have time to react with household pollution in structural cells;
- We remove the product. To do this, carefully comb out the curls with a fine comb, and then wipe your head with a terry towel.
What is included in dry hair shampoo at home?
Usually, one of the following ingredients is taken as a basis in homemade shampoos:
- potato flour;
- starch;
- corn flour;
- wheat flour;
- rice;
- baby powder or talcum powder.
Owners of dark and chestnut hair are recommended to use pure cocoa as a base at home. An excellent solution would be to take clay as a basis: for blondes - light, for brown-haired women - black.
Various oils enhance the healing properties and create a deodorizing effect: rosemary, burdock, tea, etc. It is worth remembering that each of the essential oils has its own property. For example, burdock oil is used to restore and against hair loss, and tea oil is used for dandruff.
In addition, spices are often added to this product, such as ground ginger or nutmeg, cinnamon or pepper. The pungency, which is present in spices, helps to stimulate blood circulation, and therefore, accelerates hair growth.
How can you make dry shampoo at home?
There are many recipes for making dry shampoo for a quick shampoo yourself. Below are some of them.
Recipe number 1. Oatmeal and soda based. You don't need to purchase oatmeal. It is enough to take oatmeal and grind it in a blender or grind it with a crush to a powdery state
Next, you need to mix:
- a couple of tablespoons of chopped oatmeal;
- 5 g of baking soda (food grade).
We leave the mixture on the strands for a few minutes, after which we comb out and dry the hair.
Recipe number 2. Based on iris and almond
To make a dry shampoo with a pleasant aroma and beneficial properties, you will need to take:
- 20 g starch - usually potato or corn starch is used, the latter is preferred, as it consists of rather large granules. This will play into your hands when "flushing";
- 10 g almonds - should be ground in a blender to flour;
- 10 g orris root, also chop in a blender.
Mix all the ingredients and apply to the curls according to the instructions given above. A special plus of this recipe is that almonds and iris have a beneficial effect on the structure of the strands and give them a pleasant soft aroma.
Recipe number 3. Based on violets
This recipe includes:
- flour from chickpeas, corn or coarse wheat, but ordinary flour is also suitable - 2 tablespoons;
- powdered almonds - 1 tablespoon;
- violet root, chopped as much as possible in a blender - 1 tbsp.
This mixture must be rubbed into the curls with massage movements, and left for 5-7 minutes. The secret of this recipe is precisely in the violet root - it acts like a conditioner balm, giving softness and lightness to the hair. But it should be noted right away that this ingredient is not ordinary. So, if you can't get one, you can replace it with angelica.
Recipe number 4. Rice flour based. This is one of the simplest and most effective ways to dry your scalp
Take:
- 10 g of soda;
- 10 g of rice flour, you can simply grind the rice in a blender to a powder;
- a few drops of essential oil to choose from;
- 20 g starch, preferably corn starch;
- owners of dark curls are advised to add a spoonful of natural cocoa powder.
Pour all the ingredients into a blender and chop them additionally to make the mixture homogeneous. Then separate the granules by sifting the mixture through a fine strainer.
Comb out this mixture with a thick comb. At the same time, to better comb out the mixture, wrap the comb with fine gauze. Egg yolks are rarely used in this recipe. The fact is that, firstly, eggs are not suitable for oily hair, and secondly, the yolk must be washed off.
Recipe number 5. This composition is a real panacea for brittle, thin and weakened curls
Take:
- 10 g wheat flour;
- 10 g talcum powder or soft baby powder;
- 10 g of rice crushed to a powder;
- 5 g of essential oil (it is recommended to add those oils that are rich in vitamin E).
How does this dry shampoo work on weakened curls? The fact is that talcum powder moisturizes the skin and relieves irritation at the roots, flour cleanses, and essential oil increases the regenerative function, promotes rapid cell regeneration.
