Varicose veins are a common disease that causes damage to blood vessels. Women and men are susceptible to this problem; in the weaker sex, it manifests itself more often.
The lower extremities, or rather their vessels, are the first to be affected. Such a problem is rather difficult to bear, especially when all the symptoms are neglected. It is known that there are different types of varicose veins. Consider each of them, as well as the methods of therapy in all cases and the clinical carotene pathology.
Classification of the stages of varicose veins in the legs
It has been proven that the disease in which there is expansion and other deformation of the veins is divided into different types. Each has its own symptoms and features of therapy. Let's consider them in more detail and find out what treatment will be effective for varicose veins of the lower extremities.
The initial stage of varicose veins
The first signs of venous disease outwardly practically do not appear and most often the pathology is asymptomatic. The only signs of the onset of the disease can be called a feeling of heaviness in the lower extremities, which intensifies in the evening, fatigue and a general feeling of discomfort. Additionally, a slight redness and even a burning sensation can be observed at the site of the future development of pathology. Sometimes a slight swelling may appear in the lower leg area.
Treatment methods for varicose veins
The initial manifestations of this type of vein disease are removed using various methods, using medications, compression therapy and traditional medicine recipes. Consider what classification of therapy is used today:
Medication.
The following groups of pharmacological agents are present in the classification of drugs:
- Venotonics - Glivenol, Ascorutin, etc. The drugs improve the elasticity of the walls, restore the structure of tissues, and increase blood circulation in the legs;
- Anticoagulants - Hirudin, Heparin, Lyoton 1000. Medicines reduce blood clotting and thus minimize the risk of blood clots in the veins;
- Means with a venotonic effect - Troxevasin, Venitan, etc.;
- Antiplatelet agents - Kurantin, Persantin. They help the blood clots to dissolve.
Compression therapy
Such treatment is a fairly effective method of therapy and prevention of varicose veins of the lower extremities. This method involves the use of bandages or wearing special compression underwear. Thanks to this therapy, even pressure is exerted on the legs, as a result of which blood circulation is improved. In addition, the weakened walls of the veins are supported.
At the same time, the load on the vessels that are affected by the pathological process is significantly reduced, the blood flow of blood improves and the rate of development of the disease decreases. They put on underwear or bandages in the morning, without getting out of bed, but only take them off before going to bed.
Varicose veins of the lower extremities: folk recipes
Good results in reducing the expansion of venous vessels are shown by taking decoctions of medicinal herbs: hawthorn, hops, angelica root, etc. To increase the tone of the veins and improve blood circulation, warm foot baths are made based on the bark of oak, plantain and string.
The transition to another stage of the disease occurs in the period from 2 months. up to a year.
The second stage of varicose veins
Symptoms become more pronounced, blood flow is impaired. There is a feeling of heaviness in the legs, aching soreness, partial numbness, cramps in the calf area, swelling that disappears in the morning after rest, and even tingling in the affected areas of the legs. Visual signs that create cosmetic discomfort include spider veins, isolated blood vessels or age spots, and even peeling.
Treatment methods for varicose veins
At this stage, treatment with ointments and creams will not bring the desired result, since these funds in this situation can only be an addition to more serious therapy.
Consider what methods and drugs the correct therapy for varicose veins consists of:
- Medication. Such treatment should be carried out only after consulting a doctor. Correctly selected medicines will help to remove venous disease and swelling, have a venotonic effect and reduce the risk of trophic ulcers. Treatment is carried out with the following medications: Detralex, Venoruton, Anavenol, Troxevasin, etc.;
- Compression therapy. At this stage, it is also allowed and has no contraindications, despite the advanced state of the skin disease. How to choose and apply for veins is described earlier;
- Hirudotherapy. Treatment with leeches is carried out as follows: leeches are placed on the lower extremities and given the opportunity to suck. It is known that the therapeutic effect is felt thanks to their saliva, with the help of which blood clots and nodes are resorbed, and the asterisks also disappear. The average course of therapy is 5 sessions. Contraindications are: pregnancy, hypotension and anemia.
Without treatment or non-compliance with preventive recommendations, the third stage of the disease develops.
The third stage of varicose veins of the lower extremities
It is characterized by a significant aggravation of all symptoms. Veins resemble bunches of ripe grapes, the affected area increases in size, swelling is observed throughout the day. Signs of the progression of the disease are complemented by itching, eczema and hyperpigmentation of the skin. In addition, the skin of the legs loses its elasticity, becomes vulnerable and becomes brown or dark brown.
At this stage, the formation of non-healing trophic ulcers occurs, which are provoked by even minor skin trauma. Wounds contribute to the constant ingress of infection and even the appearance of bleeding due to a ruptured knot.
Treatment methods for varicose veins
At this stage of varicose veins, in addition to the methods of treatment described above, surgery is added, which is used only when other methods do not bring results.
Consider what you need to have in your arsenal to deal with the disease at this stage:
- Medication. For the treatment of trophic ulcers, the following drugs are used: Preductal, Anginin, Trental;
- Surgical treatment. There are many different types of surgery today. You can choose between a full-fledged operation or a minimally invasive intervention. In the first case, the affected vein is completely removed. With a minimally invasive intervention, the affected area is glued or coagulated. The expansion goes away, while the blood flow occurs through healthy vessels, without disrupting the general circulation;
- Folk recipes. Healing of trophic ulcers occurs through the use of compresses with aloe juice, honey and olive oil. Good results for thickening the walls of blood vessels and pain relief are given by tincture of nutmeg.
Despite the fact that the classification is quite well known today and the treatment has been developed for each stage of the disease, doctors recommend removing the problem at first, when the expansion is minimal.
In this case, there will be no consequences, and the recovery period will not take much time. It is important to consult a doctor when the first symptoms appear, undergo an examination and adhere to all his recommendations.
