"Fukortsin" is an antiseptic and disinfectant for external use, which treats skin lesions. However, this drug can also be used for skin and nail fungus.
Composition and form of release of "Fukortsin"
It is also known as Castellani liquid and brilliant green. The product is produced only in the form of a solution for external use. There are no other forms of release.
The solution is a dark red liquid with a specific menthol odor. It is sold in vials with a capacity of 10, 15 and 25 ml. There are bottles with special shaving brushes and droppers - they are convenient to use when processing leather.
The composition includes the following substances:
- phenol;
- resorcinol;
- boric acid;
- dye fuchsin basic;
- excipients: acetone, ethyl alcohol, distilled water.
The product is sensitive to sunlight, so it must be stored in a commercial container (orange glass bottles).
How Fukortsin works
The medicine has antiseptic, disinfectant and antifungal properties, thanks to the components in the composition.
Phenol, resorcinol and boric acid destroy microbial cells, thereby killing them and stopping inflammation. Due to its antiseptic properties, the drug is active against many microorganisms, including fungi.
This allows it to be used for two purposes: for disinfection and relief of an existing infection; for the treatment of pustular skin diseases and fungus.
The drug is indicated in the following cases:
- skin damage (cracks, abrasions, erosion, superficial wounds);
- pustular skin diseases (acne, impetigo, etc.);
- fungal infections.
"Fukortsin" from nail fungus
The solution is suitable for treating skin fungus, but it is ineffective in case of nail damage. It can be used for superficial lesions (there are no ulcers, crusts, scabs, suppuration, etc.). In the treatment of nail fungus, this remedy can only be used in a complex manner.
In the course of therapy, the solution is applied to the affected tissues at least 2 times a day (maximum - 4). The treatment is carried out until the skin acquires a healthy appearance. The procedure is carried out using cotton swabs (cotton pads, cotton wool pieces). After each treatment, the materials used are discarded. Healthy people should not be allowed to come into contact with waste material to prevent transmission of infection.
"Fukortsin" can be used to prevent nail fungus when the skin of the fingers or toes is affected.
As a preventive measure, you need to process your nails up to 2 times a week. The medicine is applied to the entire nail, like varnish.
Treatment of nail fungus with "Fukortsin" alone is ineffective, since it is not able to penetrate deep into the tissues and destroy the spores of the fungus. If the pathogen remains in the tissues, then after a while the disease progresses.
The medicine is recommended for skin lesions - wounds, abrasions, erosions, cracks, etc. First of all, the agent is used for antiseptic treatment in order to prevent infection, adherence to wetness, suppuration, and prolonged non-healing. Secondly, the medicine is also used for infected wounds to relieve inflammation, suppuration, weeping, and accelerate healing.
That is, the solution can be used to lubricate any wounds on the skin that have arisen for various reasons:
- abrasions received after a fall;
- opened calluses;
- squeezed out abscesses;
- non-healing, weeping umbilical wounds in babies of the first month of life;
- inflamed elements of a rash with dermatitis, allergies, eczema, prickly heat.
That is, this drug can be used to treat any wounds for drying, relieving inflammation and preventing infection.
"Fukortsin" cannot be used to treat open wounds due to acetone and dye in the composition:
- The drug is widely used in the treatment of fungal and pustular diseases (eg impetigo, pyoderma);
- They are punctually treated with damaged areas (cracks, scratches, abrasions), pustular rashes and locally lubricate the fungus of the skin and nails. The medicine is applied with a cotton or glass swab, cotton swab or disk;
- Processing is carried out 2 to 4 times a day. In some cases, processing is carried out up to 5 times a day;
- When the solution dries up, you can apply other medicinal products - ointments, pastes, lotion, foam, liniment, etc.;
- The duration of treatment depends on the rate of disappearance of inflammation and its external manifestations. But it can be noted that the therapy of skin and nail fungus in the overwhelming majority of cases is rather long.
It is recommended to pour some of the medicine into a smaller container, for example, a measuring stopper, glass. Then a piece of cotton wool or a cotton swab is moistened there. After that, the rest of the liquid is poured out, and the container is thoroughly washed. Subsequently, a little liquid is again poured. This avoids contamination of the product in the bottle.
If burning or itching develops on the skin or nails on the hands / feet, they should go away after a few minutes - this is a normal skin reaction. Otherwise, when the discomfort persists, an allergic reaction occurs. In such a situation, the use of the drug is stopped. The drug must be washed off the skin, and then take any antihistamine (ave. "Claritin", "Telfast", "Suprastin").
The solution is applied pointwise / locally to the damaged areas of the skin, but to the entire nail. You can not lubricate the fabric with a continuous layer. This is due to the fact that when processing large areas from the fungus, phenol can be absorbed into the blood. As a result, toxic phenomena are possible - breathing disorders, weakness, dizziness.
The drug smells specifically and stains any surfaces it gets on. Moreover, it is very poorly removed from fabrics and other surfaces. Therefore, it must be applied very carefully, otherwise household items can be very dirty.
Contraindications for use
The drug should not be used for skin and nail damage only in two cases:
- hypersensitivity to ingredients or allergies;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Possible side effects
After treatment of the skin and nails, an allergic reaction or itching / burning sensation may develop.
The latter pass after a few minutes on their own - no specific measures need to be taken. But when allergies appear, they stop using the medication.
If the burning sensation and itching disappear in a couple of minutes, this is a temporary side effect, if not, it is an allergic reaction.
Overdose
This can only happen with prolonged use of the product over large areas. In this case, phenol poisoning occurs, which is absorbed into the bloodstream - weakness, respiratory failure, dizziness.
If you suspect phenol poisoning, you need to provide an influx of fresh air (go outside, open windows / vents). Symptomatic treatment is carried out only if it is necessary to maintain the normal functioning of vital organs.
Conclusion
Reviews indicate that "Fukortsin" is very effective in the treatment of skin fungus, especially with the defeat of the interdigital folds and the fingers and toes themselves. Many patients note that they managed to get rid of the infection with this particular drug.
Despite the many positive aspects, this tool must be used carefully. And if an allergy or an overdose occurs, it is worth stopping the therapy.
