A rash on the body can occur under the influence of various factors - a fungal or viral infection, an allergic reaction, etc. Skin diseases affect people of all ages - from infants to the elderly. Most diseases are more dangerous for young children than for adults, but there are other cases, such as chickenpox.
Chicken pox
The disease, more commonly known as chickenpox, is most common in young children, but it also occurs in middle-aged people. In the latter case, chickenpox occurs in the most difficult way.
The causative agent of the disease is the herpes simplex virus of the third type.
There are several stages of development of chickenpox.
Stage 1. Infection and incubation. Infection occurs through airborne droplets - it is enough to stand in a queue, public transport or another place next to a sick person to get infected. At this stage of development, the virus enters the body and begins to multiply. For the people around him, the infected person is not dangerous at this time. The first stage lasts from several days to two weeks.
Stage 2. First symptoms. At this stage, the virus passes from the mucous membranes into the blood, causing an immediate reaction of the body - an increase in temperature, general weakness, etc. This stage lasts from one to three days. At this time, the sick person is already contagious.
Stage 3. Primary acute. It is characterized by the appearance of a rash all over the body, accompanied by itching. Slight redness becomes watery, after which it breaks out and dries up, forming a scab. At this stage, the person is most infectious. It is forbidden to comb the pockmarks, as their number will only increase from this.
The third stage is the most troublesome and lasts 4 to 10 days.
Stage 4. Recovery. At this stage, new rashes no longer appear, and old pockmarks heal. The person ceases to be contagious. The virus does not leave the body, but remains in the nerve cells. The body develops a strong immunity to the disease, so chickenpox can be ill only once in a lifetime.
Ancillary medicines
Chickenpox is a disease that the body fights on its own. For treatment, only aids are used to improve the patient's condition:
- Zelenka - for quick drying of scabs and disinfection;
- Antihistamines - aimed at relieving itching;
- Antihistamine ointments;
- Antipyretic drugs as needed.
Nurofen
This is a medication that is prescribed for chickenpox in order to alleviate the general condition of a sick person:
- Reduce fever;
- Reduce headaches if present.
In addition, the drug has an anti-inflammatory effect.
There is a suspension "Nurofen" especially for children. This drug is remarkable for its properties - it acts rather quickly and remains in the body for a long period of time, so there is no need to take it often.
Contraindications
You cannot give Nurofen to a sick person if you have the following health problems:
- Bronchial asthma;
- Problems with the organs of the gastrointestinal tract;
- Failure of the kidneys and liver;
- Heart diseases;
- People with individual drug intolerance;
- Pregnancy.
In no case should the medicine be given to children weighing less than 5 kg.
In all these cases, the treatment of chickenpox with a high temperature must be carried out under the supervision of a doctor in a hospital setting, especially if an adult or a pregnant woman is sick. For people who have already passed adolescence, chickenpox can be a fatal disease, since in some cases the body temperature rises above 40 degrees.
Side effects
Many mothers are interested in whether or not they can give Nurofen to a child who has chickenpox. With chickenpox, it is strictly forbidden to take Aspirin, because it negatively affects the development of the rash - pockmarks become more, they heal longer, the temperature can rise even higher than it was.
In rare cases, Nurofen can provoke exactly the same complications. This is due to the individual intolerance to the drug. Therefore, if the sick person has never taken Nurofen before chickenpox, then it is better to use another remedy to lower the temperature. In such cases, doctors are advised to take directly "Ibuprofen" or "Paracetamol".
In general, the side effects of Nurofen include nausea, vomiting, and increased blood pressure. However, it is worth noting that all these symptoms appear with an overdose of the drug, so you should strictly follow the doctor's instructions or follow the instructions attached to the drug.
Dosage
Children under 12 years of age are advised to give Nurofen in the form of a suspension with orange or strawberry flavor. The dosage is calculated as follows. For kids:
- from 3 to 6 months - 2.5 ml three times a day;
- from 6 months to 1 year - 2.5 ml four times a day;
- from 1 to 3 years - 5 ml three times a day;
- from 3 to 6 years old - 7.5 ml three times a day;
- from 7 to 9 years old - 10 ml three times a day;
- from 10 to 12 years old - 15 ml three times a day.
Adults are advised to give Nurofen tablets. The dosage is 200 mg (1 tablet) 4 times a day.
It is worth noting that when treating chickenpox, it is worth taking the drug only when necessary - if the patient's temperature rises above 38 degrees. If this symptom is absent, then you should stop taking the drug.
In the event of an allergic reaction, fever, deterioration of the patient's condition after taking the drug, you need to provide plenty of drink and call an ambulance.
Results of use
Nurofen effectively fights the fever caused by chickenpox. A decrease in temperature occurs within 15-60 minutes after taking the drug. The effect lasts an average of 6-8 hours.
Taking "Nurofen" for chickenpox should last no more than 3-4 days - during this time the disease is declining, and the fever should no longer bother the sick person. If the temperature continues to rise above 38 degrees, then it is necessary to call a doctor or an ambulance to the house - such a symptom may indicate the occurrence of possible complications.
Chickenpox is a fairly simple disease with many unpleasant symptoms. If a person has had chickenpox, then he can safely contact with other patients, since the body develops strong immunity - the disease will never return.
For children, chickenpox, although accompanied by itching, very often turns into a fun game, since it becomes possible to draw greenery on your body. The temperature in babies and adolescents rises, as a rule, to 37, 5-38 degrees and lasts no more than 2-3 days. But if an adult falls ill, then everything can be much more complicated - a strong fever can be accompanied by loss of consciousness.
If an adult or a pregnant woman falls ill, then calling an ambulance is simply mandatory, since the treatment is carried out under the supervision of the attending physician.
