Gout is a disease associated with metabolic disorders caused by infectious or organic factors. Uric acid begins to accumulate in the joints of the legs and soft tissues adjacent to them.

Causes of pathological crystallization:

  • violation of metabolic processes;
  • kidney disease, in which urate excretion decreases;
  • a diet in which an excess amount of purines enters the body - special substances that are converted into sodium monourate;
  • infectious, autoimmune and systemic diseases.

Clinical manifestations of the disease: acute inflammatory process - arthritis - and the formation of tofuses (gouty bone protrusions).

Against the background of gout, kidney damage is often diagnosed.

Since the main symptom of the disease is pain, therapy begins with therapeutic measures, the purpose of which is to relieve pain. Gout is put into remission with medications and folk remedies.

Pain relievers for gout

One of the most effective drugs, which is used in exacerbation of gout and to eliminate attacks, is "Colchicine"

The active ingredient is colchicine.

It should be taken at the first symptoms of an exacerbation:

  • swelling of the joint;
  • the appearance of aching pain.

Immediately take 2 tablets, then every hour for 1 or every 2 hours for another 2. The maximum daily dose is up to 8 tablets. On the second day, the dose is reduced - up to 3 tablets per day, on the 3rd day, up to 5 tablets are taken. Then the dosage is reduced again. The use of "Colchicine" is discontinued 3 days after the elimination of the attack.

The pain stops within the first 12 hours.

"Colchicine" has many side effects: abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, convulsions, respiratory depression, hematuria and oliguria, urticaria, ascending paralysis, decreased myocardial contractility.

The main contraindications: renal and hepatic failure, alcoholism, heart and vascular diseases, pyoinflammatory processes, infectious diseases.

Fulllex. Release form - capsules or cream

Composition of capsules: extract of white willow, martinia root and horse chestnut;

The composition of the cream is grape seed oil, extracts from white willow and horse chestnut, natural wax, vitamins, D-panthenol.

The main contraindication is individual intolerance, pregnancy and lactation. May cause allergic reactions.

Allopurinol. The active substance is of the same name. The dosage is set individually, depending on the severity of the attacks and the age of the patient. Adults are prescribed from 100 to 900 mg per day, twice or four times, after meals, with plenty of liquid. Children - maximum daily dose: 400 mg per day

The drug must be taken at the onset of an attack - if the pain is acute, it will no longer have an analgesic effect.

Main contraindications: hepatic or renal failure, lactation, pregnancy, arterial hypertension, Side effects may occur: nausea and vomiting, epigastric pain, stomatitis, dizziness, insomnia.

Non-steroidal drugs have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, quickly eliminate the symptoms of an attack

The most common treatment for gout is "Arkoksia". The main active ingredient is etoricoxib. It has a complex effect: analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Tablets may contain 60 g, 90 g or 120 g of active ingredient. In an acute attack, take 120 g of the drug for 1 dose - this is the highest daily dose.

You can also take:

  • "Phenylbutazone" is an active substance of the same name;
  • "Butadion". An additional action is uricosuric. In an acute attack, take up to 300 mg once, then 150 mg every 4 hours. After the pain is eliminated, the dose is gradually reduced.
  • "Reopyrin" - active ingredients: sodium phenylbutazone and aminophenazone. Up to 6 tablets within 24 hours with exacerbation of the disease.
  • "Indomethacin". It is considered the mildest non-steroidal drug. On the first day of exacerbation, take 150 mg, then 100 mg per day.

A common disadvantage of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is irritation of the mucous membrane of the digestive organs. Therefore, symptomatic therapy is recommended, which should not last longer than 5 days.

The advantage of the drugs is the ability to use them in different forms: tablets, ointments and injections. Regardless of the form, the contraindications are the same.

After eliminating the acute pain caused by an attack of gout, they switch from injections to a tablet form.

The main contraindications: acetylsalicylic acid intolerance, hematopoiesis disorder, low blood clotting, gastrointestinal tract erosion and ulcers, children under 18 years of age, heart and vascular diseases, old age, lactation and pregnancy.

Medicines injections and oral medications can quickly relieve gout pain, but they all have one common drawback - frequent pronounced side effects. In this case, it is recommended to use other methods - topical preparations in the form of ointments or creams, or connect folk remedies.

Pain relief for gout - folk methods

Compresses can be used to relieve pain in an acute gout attack. Medical and folk remedies are used as active ingredients.

For acute pain, you can make a compress according to this recipe

Ingredients:

  • "Dimexide" in the form of a solution;
  • at choice in ampoules - "Analgin", "Novocain", "Lidocaine".

Mix in a ratio of 1/1.

  1. As an active substance for a compress, "Dimexide" is mixed with any non-steroidal agent in the form of an ointment, gel or cream. For 1 tablespoon of non-steroidal preparation - 1/2 tablespoon of "Dimexidum".
  2. Unsalted butter compress.

Homemade butter is melted over low heat, constantly removing the film that forms on the surface. Then the container with oil is removed from the heat, alcohol is added there - the same amount as there was oil in the pan, mix until completely homogeneous. You may need to place the pot over low heat.

As soon as the composition is brought to full homogeneity, it is set on fire. When the alcohol burns out, the fire goes out. All that is left is applied to the compress.

With an attack of gout, the skin bakes. Traditional medicine in this case suggests making a compress from fish. The type of fish does not matter. The pulp is frozen in the refrigerator, then placed in a bag and applied to a sore spot, and a sock is put on top. This method helps you sleep well

Interestingly, a compress from raw, unfrozen fish also helps to get rid of pain.

The following recipe for eliminating acute pain: activated charcoal - the entire package, pounded, mixed with flax seed - a tablespoon of 10 tablets, diluted with water to obtain a pasty consistency. Tied to a sore spot at night

All compresses are done according to the following algorithm:

  • the drug is applied to a gauze napkin or cotton fabric folded in several layers;
  • on top "insulate" with plastic wrap, so as not to stain the bed or clothes;
  • apply insulation - another napkin folded in several layers and fix it.

Since the inflammatory process in most cases affects the joints of the foot - in particular the big toe - socks are an excellent fixator.

Pain relief will stop helping if you do not follow a special diet with a history of gout. Uric acid will accumulate when consumed with purines, causing a constant exacerbation of the disease. Only complex treatment will help prevent attacks and ensure the remission of the disease for a long time.
